Matariki Reflections

Mānawatia a Matariki

Matariki is a time where people, whānau, and communities gather together to remember the year that has passed, to celebrate the present, and to plan for the next year. It is a time to reflect on our loved ones who are no longer with us, to feast and celebrate with our friends and family, and to look towards the future and the hope of a season full of bounty.

For Korio, I’m taking the time to reflect and to consider.  I’ve set a goal for Korio to grow sustainably. So during Matariki with the idea of reflecting on the past and planning for the future, I have thought about what that actually means for Korio - for myself, for my whānau, for my team, for my clients.

This is where these reflections have taken me…

  • Define what success for Korio looks like and then celebrate success as it happens.

  • Consider growth in terms of what is right for Korio (which will look different than growth for other businesses).

  • Continue to work towards balancing the roles of business owner and motherhood and support and encourage the team to do the same.

  • Fulfill the foundation values of profit for purpose but within a framework that is sustainable in terms of time and resources and with partner organisations that are aligned with Korio core value of working for the wellbeing of land and people.

  • Continuous improvement, even if it is only tiny steps each day.

So now when I consider growing Korio sustainably I can be more thoughtful, more purposeful so it is clear that we are taking steps towards reaching this goal. My next steps will be to look at how we measure, self-check and correct to keep us on track.

I’m looking forward to actioning these things and then looking back at this blog again next Matariki. I hope you’ve had the opportunity this Matariki to take a little time to reflect and consider your own small business.

Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou Māori

Kim Manunui

Hi, I’m Kim and I work with a great team to help individuals, as well as small and not so small businesses get their message, product and services to the world using digital media and creating wonderful websites that don’t cost the earth.

I was born in Canada, and grew up around Vancouver and the mountains of British Columbia. My love of pristine environments led me to New Zealand and eventually to the mountains, lakes and rivers of the central North Island which is home. My family’s heritage is here, and it’s from here that Korio traverses the planet.

The digital world is never static and neither are we.

And I say ‘we’ because I work with an awesome group of talented people who I gather together as required to complete a project.  Whatever your business, not-for-profit or individual needs are we gather the best team to get the job done.

Collaboratively we are creative, share sustainable values and work hard for great outcomes because that’s the buzz of satisfaction that drives us.

If you have an audience and market to reach, we can make that happen. Creative design, words that work and smart behind the scenes stuff that cuts through the online noise. We’ll design your website and then build it. We’ll manage the content as well as all your hosting needs. We can handle your online advertising so you get noticed,
and we’ll manage your social media presence so you get the clicks, likes and engagement to grow your business. All within the budget you set, because none of this needs to cost the earth.  And the job doesn’t stop when your website goes live. We are your virtual business partner.
